When we talk about immigration, we often only see one part of the story. From numbers on the news, to the borders being crossed, and even the dehumanizing nature as we refer to them as "aliens" from legal jargon, it becomes easy to forget that every one of these numbers belongs to a person.

Immigrants have their own memories, fears, hopes, and reasons for leaving home. They carry stories with them that don't always make it to the headlines or social media posts. As someone who delves into novels, films, shows, music, and poetry, I curated my favorite stories about people who crossed borders (literally and figuartively) and learned how to live in the in-between. In this way, we can learn more about the immigrant experience in a human way. These stories remind me to look past where someone came from and listen to what they have to say.
