I love visiting museums, wandering through artifacts and learning about people whose lives I would otherwise never have access to. That fascination led me to wonder: what if I could curate a museum of my own showcasing people whose stories are scattered across the world? As a third-culture kid (TCK), in the sense that I grew up in between cultures (however one may define it), I realized that our community is rarely gathered in one place, so I wanted to create a digital museum that could bring our stories and shared experiences together. We may not share the same culture but we often carry emotions that feel universal: adapting, belonging, leaving, returning, and figuring out what “home” means. And because no museum of TCK experiences could ever be complete, I want mine to remain ever-evolving, inviting TCKs and anyone else to contribute their own answer to the question: What does home mean to you?

Home through poetry and music

Near the Pacific Seas

By Participant EA01

by the seas of my home sweet home, i walk

beside soft shores, the waves of the ocean

lapping against my skin. my feet sink in

the subdued sand, the salt crystals sparkling

like rare jewels in the bustling lights of

nearby stands. in my right hand, i hold a

passionfruit 钵仔糕. delighted

i was, enjoying the tangy gold sweet

as i wander through the spread of the beach.

the palm leaves rustle calmly in the wind.

waves ripple gentle against timeless shores.

i proceed back home, my surroundings a

daze. feeling my sandy bare feet against

harsh pebble and concrete; i tell you to

hold my navy blue slippers and listen,

listen to the sweet melody of the

faint summer hum near the pacific seas.

Home for me

By Participant CC03

Home for me is not one that you would typically know.

When people ask where home is, I stutter and shake.

Sometimes i just want to say no

how much more can i take before i break?

im sprawled out from country to country like cookie dough.

Home for me is a answer i do not know
